  • Human Resources Diploma or Degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HR Administrator at manufacturing plant level.
  • Experience working with shop stewards and union officials.
  • Code 8 driver’s licence.
  • IR experience beneficial.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in reading and writing English.
  • Team player.
  • Confident and proactive approach, anticipate issues and requirements.
Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information in HR systems, including personnel files, attendance records and other relevant data.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, conducting background checks and managing the onboarding of new hires. Ensure all documentation is stored in HR personnel files and e-files submitted to Head Office.
  • Support payroll by collecting and verifying timekeeping data, assisting with benefits enrolment and resolving payroll-related inquiries through the Head Office Payroll division.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and legal requirements relating to employment, safety and HR functions.
  • Assist with employee inquiries, concerns and requests, escalating issues as required.
  • Support training initiatives by coordinating logistics, tracking attendance and assisting with onboarding.
  • Provide administrative support for HR functions, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence and maintaining office supplies. Perform any other lawful tasks required by the HR Generalist or General Plant Manager.
  • Prepare reports on HR metrics such as headcount, turnover and absenteeism, and analyse data to identify trends and improvement areas.
  • Implement and support employee engagement initiatives through Head Office or the General Plant Manager, including recognition programs, social events and corporate gifting.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by working with the HSE Officer to implement safety procedures, conduct inspections and promote awareness of safety regulations.
  • Escalate disciplinary and grievance matters to IR by gathering information, scheduling hearings, taking minutes, scanning and filing documentation, and sending invitations to all relevant parties. Assist with CCMA or Bargaining Council referrals by escalating promptly to Head Office and IR. May be required to issue warnings or serve as a witness.
  • Monitor staff punctuality at the plant, including labour broker employees, and liaise with third parties on late coming or poor attendance. Issue memos and notifications on attendance and punctuality as approved by the HR Generalist and General Plant Manager.
  • Request clocking reports and leave balances from Payroll to track attendance and report habitual offenders to management and IR.
