- Minimum 6-8 years of experience operating machinery in a FMCG or Packaging manufacturing environment
- Certificate or Diploma Plastic Manufacturing / Extrusion Operations advantageous
- Grade 12 with Maths essential
- Food Safety Certificate
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to be self-directed and multitask
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to lead and manage the performance of others

- Ability to obtain forklift and overhead crane license and operate a forklift and overhead crane
- Applicants must be well spoken, self-driven to grow and develop within the Packaging Industry.
- Identify HIRA and inform SIC to revise HIRA list
- Maintain basic condition of machinery and report deviations to SIC to include in abnormality list.
- Maintain quality standards according to SOP, WI, ISO/FSMS & TQM.
- Communicate for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting defective material, coordination of job
- Report production accurately and timely including waste, WIP, time codes, raw materials, etc.
- Ensure your own safety while operating the machine and that of those assisting with operations and ensure Bare Roll Jumbo Slitting (as per production Plan)
- Validate jumbo Stock Report vs Physical Stock; prepare for paper core and set changes
- Loading of jumbo rolls
- Safe Blade management (Count, Replace defective blade)
- Set up maintain and Operate all Slitter machines
- Adjust machine parameters according to specification record changes from recipe
- Examine and Monitor the defects during and after slitting
- Monitor slitting process
- Set up pallets for unloading rolls and Verify RFID Tag Reader
- Unload rolls onto pallets on conveyors
- Ensure SCIP Data Entry, Pasting of Roll detail Labels & Correct Log Book Records
- Transfer rolls via the Bonfanti conveyor system only once data match is confirmed
- Perform daily housekeeping duties to keep area clean and organized (start of, during and end of shift)
- Remove and weigh all waste (start up and end waste)
- Ensure waste separation (recyclable and non-recyclable materials)
- Correctly store all unused equipment, tools and recording books.
- Report production and downtime of all slitters at the end of shift (WhatsApp, email etc) to your SIC.
- Report to Senior Operator
- Take lawful instruction from Senior Operator/ SIC
- Ensure troubleshooting regarding quality/machine.
- Ensure all logbooks entered correctly and fill all check lists.
