A vacancy exists in Gqeberha for a Metrologist who will be responsible for fulfilling the requirements and duties of the Metrology RoomKey Performance Areas:
  • Create Measuring Programs for measurement of new and existing wheels
  • Provide effective feedback to all relevant departments, if dimensional deviations or defects identified
  • Prepare APQP/PPAP/ISIR documentation according to Customer requirements
  • Participate in Problem solving activities, FMEA / Control Plan Meetings (Part of APQP)
  • Conduct Routine testing and Product audits
  • Take the lead on Gauging designs, approval and also creating work instructions thereof
  • Calibration – Maintain calibration status of all existing gauges and instruments – inclusive of physical verification of instruments in accordance with works instructions, as well as all relevant documentation. Manage external calibration processes.
  • Conduct Capability studies/ad-hoc measurements as part of investigations; lead investigations into wheels not meeting requirements
  • Documentation and record – Maintain relevant filing systems (including drawings and measuring reports, registers and issue levels).
Qualifications:
  • A tertiary qualification, e.g. ND Mechanical Engineering or BTech Quality
  • Qualified Trade – Preferably Toolmaking or Mechanical
  • Certificate in CMM Measuring / 3D Scanning
  • Quality specific training in VDA6.3, IATF16949, Core Tools and CSR’s
Work Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a Metrology Lab in a factory environment
  • Understanding and utilization of PC-DMIS CMM Software
  • Should have thorough knowledge of the entire plant processes
  • Experience with SPC / MSA / APQP / 8D concepts
Other Requirements:
  • Understand CMM Measuring equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of Sampling process
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Ability to work under pressure, lead a team and be a team-player
  • Ability to be pro-active, good time management skills
  • Honest, have integrity and good communication skills
  • Excellent attendance and disciplinary records
  • Computer literacy is essential (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, MiniTab, 3D Scanning)
  • Must have a valid Drivers License (own transport preferable)
