- Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials, ensuring correct quantities and quality.
- Report any shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the Stores Manager.
- Pick, bag, and tag materials in accordance with issued job cards and production requirements.
- Interpret fabrication drawings and BOQs to identify correct materials and quantities required for each job.
- Ensure materials are correctly labelled, stored, and traceable at all times.
- Coordinate the preparation and issuing of materials to the fabrication floor in line with job schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, updating stock movements in the system.
- Assist in regular stock counts and cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
- Ensure stores and work areas are clean, safe, and organised in compliance with SHEQ standards.
- Collaborate with procurement, planning, and production teams to align material availability with job requirements.
- Matric certificate or equivalent (required).
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a stores or warehouse environment, preferably in a fabrication, manufacturing, or engineering setting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (fabrication/structural/mechanical).
- Familiarity with Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material take-offs.
- Basic computer literacy (Excel, stock systems).
- Forklift operation experience or license (advantageous).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work methodically and follow procedures.
- Basic understanding of materials commonly used in fabrication (e.g., pipes, flanges, fittings, structural steel).
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual materials handling.
