Ocean Freight Controller - Port Elizabeth Branch

• Coordinate the import and export of goods by sea, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and procedures. Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to arrange shipments and resolve any issues that may arise.
• Monitor vessel schedules and cargo arrivals/departures to ensure timely processing of shipments.
• Maintain accurate records of all import and export transactions, including shipping documents, customs declarations, and invoices.
• Prepare and submit customs documentation for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and requirements.
• Communicate with customs team to facilitate the clearance of goods and resolve any customs-related issues.
• Documentation Management:
• Manage the preparation, verification, and distribution of shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Ensure that all documentation is complete, accurate, and filed in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor the movement of cargo from origin to destination, tracking shipments and providing regular updates to internal teams and customers.
• Maintain high KPI compliance.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, keeping them informed about the status of their shipments and addressing any concerns promptly.
• Ensure that all import and export activities adhere to quality standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Implement quality control measures to minimize errors and improve efficiency in the ocean freight operations.

• Matric requirement coupled with 3-5 years experience in shipping, clearing and forwarding or import/export logistics fields
• Proven experience in ocean freight operations is mandatory.
• Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and shipping documentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, as needed
