- Conducting study related activities and procedures, in accordance with the various protocols.
- Screening, interviewing and implementing informed consent procedures for potential volunteers/research participants for clinical research studies.
- Obtaining informed consent from study participants.
- Providing HIV & TB related Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) including, but not restricted to, drug adherence counselling.
- Drawing bloods (Phlebotomy) and other clinical specimen collection.
- Labelling of biological specimens and dispatching to the laboratory.
- Assisting with taking of vital signs
- Management of patient care as per study protocol.
- Willing and able to respond to after hour call-outs.
- Ensuring and maintaining the highest quality of care and safety for study participants.
- Demonstrate compliance with and practice of infection prevention/control policies.
- Education and support of study participants and study staff.
- Ensuring a high degree of data integrity and study document completion.
- Capturing of participant data into study databases
- Resolution of data queries/errors.
- Quality control/quality assurance of participant files.
- Record keeping and maintaining confidentiality of all study records.
- Translation of study documents.
- Valid registration with SANC and as a Registered Nurse.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Fluency in English and Zulu.
- Previous clinical research experience e.g., working in a clinical research project.
- Knowledge of current health and public service legislation, regulation, and policies.
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
- Clinical research experience.
- Phlebotomy skills, drawing bloods and other specimen collection.
- Previous research experience.
- Accuracy and precision.
- Computer Literacy (MS Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
- Counselling and interviewing skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, flexible and a good team player.
- Responsiveness, professionalism, supportive and assertive.
- Well organized and possession of the ability to plan effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
