Job description Effectively maintain healthy relations within the host communities and external stakeholders at large. Contribute towards the development and implementation of Stakeholder Relations management plans in accordance with stakeholder management strategy. Develop, implement, and maintain community database and conduct continuous needs assessments. Strategically build a strong Company brand presence amongst relevant government departments and / or offices. Conduct environment scanning and socio-political analysis and submit findings report to the MD. Provide input into annual budget planning process and submit to line management for approval. Assist in developing business integrated reputation management strategies in conjunction with Legal & Compliance Department. Conduct stakeholder needs assessments that will inform planning. Develop and implement stakeholder and government relations communication plan in collaboration with the Public Relations Manager for the business to build and strengthen brand awareness of the organisation. Identify and partner with key community role-players and coordinate the support for community directed initiatives. Identify new and changes to legislations that affect Companys licence to operate and notify relevant internal stakeholders. Identify or create effective engagement tools, platforms, and other opportunities to advance business stakeholder relations strategy, e.g., local, provincial, and national Government with the collaboration from the Public Relations Manager. Ensure clear, accurate, consistent, continuous & timely messaging to external stakeholder and key government officials when required. Ensure deliberate and robust internal and external brand awareness creation to visibly enhance corporate brand. Assist in the management of all communications crises in conjunction with the public Relations Manager. Provide stakeholder relations support and guidance to all departments Promote and adhere to the Companys procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to Human Resource Management, Legal Compliance, Health an Safety, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of organizational standards, policies, and procedures within span of control and monitor implementation to ensure full compliance. Development and successful delivery of community engagement plans in accordance with the overarching stakeholder engagement strategy. Conduct management of community mapping and prepare communications to host communities and respond promptly and constructively to enquiries. Work collaboratively with Tribal Council, project team members, leadership, and direct reports. Arrange and attend community meetings with technical team members and ensure feedback of stakeholder responses and requests to technical teams are responded to within agreed timescales. Prepare and manage workshops, roundtable and forum logistics including developing agendas, project plans, minute taking and production of reports. Ensure accurate audit trail maintained of all community and stakeholder engagement and all contact/activities are recorded on stakeholder database. Provide input for the weekly and monthly reports for Management and the MD. Attend Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement meetings and expedite actions arising. Develop and maintain the Companys SLP plan in collaboration with the Public Relations Manager. Ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and legislative requirements related to SLP management. Collaborate with HR and legal and provide accurate reporting per legislative requirements for EE, BEE, WSP/ATR, and Mining Charter reporting.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in Stakeholder Engagement, Communications or similar industry experience preferred. Experience in developing and implementing company-wide programs and projects. Experience working in a complex stakeholder. Experience in SLP Management advantageous. Knowledge & Skills: Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook). Ability to network and communicate with all relevant stakeholders. Business acumen. Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Extensive knowledge and demonstrated understanding of different organizational communication channels for stakeholder relations disciplines. Excellent command of the English language in both written and oral and able to interact confidently across all levels of the organization. Excellent presentation and public speaking skills; preparation of presentation materials and speaking notes with exceptional writing skills. Team management/leadership experience or leading projects. Engagement with Host Community forums and/or government stakeholders. Understanding of South African black economic empowerment legislation including the Mining Charter, BEE codes of good practice (DMR & DTI), the BEE Act and BEE sectoral charters as it relates to preferential procurement is critical. A broad understanding of the mining industry and host community is highly advantageous. Knowledge and Skills in SLP Management advantageous. Able to work independently or as a team, manage competing priorities, and deliver under pressure. Loyalty, reliability, and integrity essential. Strong willingness to learn and develop.
