
Project Engineer

- Actively work on product/project deployment of complex mining solutions in a hands-on manner
- Support and maintain software
- Deliver bespoke customisation as required
- Troubleshoot system issues
- Own and implement customer system configurations
- Implement system customisations using scripting tools
- Participate in onsite system installation efforts
- Taking ownership and responsibility for customer issues and problems and seeing them through to resolution wherever possible
- Providing technical leadership in areas of expertise, cross skilling with other project team members to ensure transfer of knowledge and ample coverage of required duties
- Gather customer requirements and identify improvements and customisations for Mining Systems
- Act as technical project lead for system deployments, working collaboratively with the Project
- Serve as primary customer contact for support and enhancements after deployment
- Utilize relationships developed with customers and other contacts to advise sales team of potential issues affecting customers as well as other opportunities for Hexagon.
- Manage customer relationships from project inception to deployment and post installation support, becoming the customer interface for that project
- Work collaboratively with sales team in a pre-sales capacity (e.g. attending / leading technical presentations) to capitalize on close relationships with customers and to raise Hexagon’s profile and product advantages and benefits
- Facilitate customer system training to ensure systems are being utilized to their full potential
- Representing a company in a helpful, professional and courteous manner at all times
- Maintain, enhance and adhere to Hexagon documentation and reporting standards, systems and processes
- Work on support team maintenance tasks on a scheduled roster
- To participate in On-Call (after hours) support activities as required
- Compliance with company’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures, participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and safety of himself / herself and the safety of others
- Other duties as required from time to time
Education/Credentials:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering (Computer / Mining / Electrical / Electronic), Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with IP networking
- Experience with Hardware installation
- Experience with or knowledge of C++ OR Objective-C software development
- Ability to form strong relationships with customers and represent the company professionally
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills (pre-requisite)
- Ability to set and meet team and individual goals and deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to thrive in a high pressure environment
- Ability to work autonomously or part of a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to rapidly grasp technical solutions, concepts and products
- Desire to expand own knowledge and skill set as well as sharing knowledge with other team members wherever possible
- Wireless networks experience (desirable)
- Minimum understanding of electrical schematics and installation (preferable)
- Knowledge mining operations (desirable)
- Experience with Trackless Mobile Machineries (desirable)
- Travel (regionally and globally international) to client sites is a requirement of this role
Own Authority
- Setting of day to day priorities within overall priority listing
- Make recommendations / reporting based on technical evaluations and customer interaction
- Advising Supervisor of risk areas as they are identified
- Advising Sales team of business development opportunities as they arise
- Approval of project deployment plans that involve cross-functional teams, e.g. Engineering and Support
- Approval for expenditure
- Any decision that will adversely affect budget
- Clarification of priorities or urgent escalations
