Purpose of the role The Layouts Tester / Layout Automation Assistant provides dedicated support to the Layout Automation & Testing Engineer, with a primary focus on testing, validation, and quality assurance of automated workflows and print-ready outputs. The role ensures accurate execution of test cases, identification of defects, and verification of error-free layouts for production. In addition, the role serves as a learning and development pathway into layout automation and workflow configuration. The incumbent will assist with basic automation tasks, macros, and file preparation under supervision, gaining practical experience in Pitstop Pro, Enfocus Switch, PDF Toolbox and CorelDRAW while contributing meaningfully to the teams output. This role is suited to an early-career individual with strong attention to detail, a structured approach to testing, and a willingness to learn automation tools and processes over time. Manages the development of innovation and change Professionally qualified & experienced specialists/mid-management Professional knowledge of sub-discipline or discipline. Provide input in the formulation of Organisational/Functional Unit business plans. Formulate and implement departmental/team plans that will support the BU business plans. Optimisation of resources (finances, people, material, information, and technology) to achieve given objectives in the most productive and cost-effective way. Skilled technical & academically qualified/junior Applies broad knowledge of products, techniques, and processes. Evaluates procedures and applies previous experience. A good solution can usually be found. Determines own priorities. What has to be done is stipulated; but may require initiative in terms of how it should be done Semi-skilled & discretionary decision making Accountable for the direct product, process, or service quality. Qualifications and/ or Certification Diploma or Certificate in Software Testing, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field. ISTQB Foundation or equivalent testing certification (advantageous). Coding in JavaScript or NodeJS (advantageous) Training or exposure in Pitstop Pro, Enfocus Switch, or CorelDRAW beneficial but not required (on-the-job learning provided). Exposure to Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) advantageous Exposure to PDF Toolbox Experience and Skills 1+ years experience in testing, QA, print production, or related support roles. Foundational knowledge of: Manual testing (test cases, defect logging, regression testing). File preparation and quality checks for print. Strong eye for detail and ability to spot inconsistencies or errors. Willingness to learn layout automation tools (Pitstop Pro, Enfocus Switch, CorelDRAW, PDF Toolbox). Good documentation and reporting skills. Collaborative mindset, eager to learn from senior colleagues
