The successful candidate will inspire students' musical development and creativity through performance, theory, and appreciation.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, prepare, and deliver music lessons for Key Stages 3-5 in line with the British curriculum.Teach music theory, composition, performance, and appreciation across a variety of musical genres.Prepare students for music examinations, performances, and school productions.Assess and track student progress; provide constructive feedback and academic support.Develop and maintain a stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and creativity.Coordinate with the school leadership and arts department for school events and concerts.Encourage and oversee extracurricular musical activities such as choir, band, and ensemble groups.Maintain positive communication with students, parents, and colleagues.Stay updated with current educational trends and music pedagogy.Candidate Requirements Education & CertificationsBachelor's Degree in Music or Music Education (completed through face-to-face learning) - MandatoryPGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) - MandatoryQTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - Mandatory for UK applicantsSACE (South African Council for Educators) - Mandatory for South African applicantsExperienceMinimum 2 years of teaching experience in a British curriculum school preferred.Experience preparing students for musical performances and exams (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity) is an advantage.Background in both classical and contemporary music styles preferred.Skills & CompetenciesStrong knowledge of music theory, instruments, composition, and performanceProficiency in classroom and behavior managementAbility to differentiate instruction and accommodate diverse learnersCreative, passionate, and innovative approach to music educationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsTechnologically proficient (experience with music software, digital learning tools, etc.)Preferred NationalitiesUKEuropean UnionSouth AfricaDeka Minas (Pty) LtdRecruiter
