Seasoned Unix/Linux System Administrator with over 8 years of experience administering and maintaining Oracle Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Oracle Linux infrastructures across hybrid environments, including on-premises (Sandton Campus) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Proven ability to design, implement, and manage robust server environments, including OVM for SPARC and OLVM for x86, supporting critical enterprise applications. Passionate about automation, infrastructure as code (IaC), and streamlining operations using tools like Ansible and SaltStack. Adept at working under pressure, meeting project deadlines, and contributing to a high-performance team culture.Key Responsibilities:

Administered and maintained Linux infrastructure (RHEL & Oracle Linux) across on-prem and cloud environments.
Managed Oracle Solaris systems and implemented upgrades, patches, and security controls.
Oversaw OVM for SPARC and OLVM for x86 virtualization environments for optimal resource utilization.
Deployed and maintained solutions on AWS, Azure, and other public cloud platforms.
Automated system tasks and processes using Ansible, Bash, and Python, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

Advanced knowledge of Linux (RHEL, Oracle Linux) and Oracle Solaris (Solaris 11)
Virtualization platforms: OVM for SPARC, OLVM for x86, VMware, KVM
Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, with exposure to hybrid cloud architectures
Configuration management and automation: Ansible, SaltStack, Shell Scripting
Development exposure: Bash, Python, with basic scripting for automation
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, firewall rules, and NFS/SMB
Business continuity, disaster recovery planning, and backup strategies
Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis skills
Excellent documentation and communication abilities
Highly adaptable, analytical thinker, and proactive problem-solver

Education & Certifications:

Grade 12 (Matric)
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) (or equivalent)
Oracle Solaris Certification
Additional certifications in cloud computing or DevOps tools (advantageous)
