We’re hiring: Facilities Manager
Cape TownOverviewAre you a hands-on facilities professional with strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC know-how? Do you excel at planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality maintenance while supporting property management and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance? If yes, join our team as Facilities Manager and play a pivotal role in keeping our portfolio running smoothly and safely.What you’ll do
  • Manage and perform routine maintenance and repairs across electrical, fire, mechanical, plumbing, building structure, and related systems and assets.
  • Report all repair, maintenance (R&M), planned maintenance (PM), and engineering activities to management; act on recommendations.
  • Highlight material risks (perimeter security, CCTV, roof beams) to management and implement mitigations.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance issues promptly; maintain an up-to-date maintenance and service schedule per building.
  • Liaise with admin staff to ensure timely closures and completion of job cards; ensure health and safety standards are followed.
  • Ensure quality assurance procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  • Project manage, supervise, and coordinate works with subcontractors; track progress and quality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve FM operations and efficiency; continuously optimize processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date compliance records, maintenance logs, and servicing certifications in line with building regulations.
  • Manage asset maintenance within budget; support development of service delivery for all hard services and asset management.
  • Handle related administration and correspondence; provide financial control and budget management.
  • Manage tenant-related services; treat the Property Management Department as an external client.
  • Approve and submit quotes and invoices to Facilities Head for final approval.
  • Submit weekly building inspection reports; provide after-hours standby for critical issues.
Key competencies
  • Technical FM expertise: strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC knowledge; hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Project and vendor management: ability to supervise subcontractors, manage schedules, and control costs.
  • Compliance and safety: deep respect for health and safety standards and building regulations.
  • Administration and communication: solid record-keeping, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Financial acumen: budget awareness and ability to manage maintenance expenditures.
Requirements
  • Relevant technical qualifications in facilities management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance and management (ideally within a portfolio of buildings).
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle after-hours standby, and manage multiple sites.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with facilities management software is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on site portfolio.
