Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Ensure efficient shift handovers. • Establish process start up conditions. • Ensure Effective communication of process condition • Ensure Effective response to abnormal process conditions. • Ensure effective shut down of process operations. • Ensure that all safety standards are maintained. • Test and checks on all safety equipment carried out by ensuring PMS are completed in the specified time frame. • Take responsibility for high-risk tasks and permit to work clearances that could lead to injury e.g. working at heights, Vessel entry. • Rectify and report safety hazards promptly. • Ensure that all team members are using the correct PPE. • Attend safety meeting and complete plant safety inspections monthly. • Maintain good housekeeping standards on the plant. • Unsafe conditions reported and rectified e.g. spillages. • Correct storage of equipment and stock. • Staff Management: o Carry out PJOs on personnel, identify areas that require attention. o Ensure that all operators are trained on the various processes, identify training needs and make recommendations accordingly. o Assist the production manager in updating manufacturing manuals and process logs. o Ensure Effective communication with subordinates. o Ensure effective disciplinary management.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Matric / Grade 12. • NQF2 Plant Operations, Chemical Engineering Diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 2 – 3 years supervisory experience in a chemical plant.
