Reporting to Plant Manager Sub-department/direct reports: 5 Direct Reports, 10 Indirect Reports Summary of the Role: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the day-to-day needs and long-term planning by ensuring that high-performance maintenance services are provided within the plant to meet safety, quality, and production goals. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of the maintenance department, including managing the upkeep of all manufacturing assets, managing maintenance budget and resources, and assisting in the design and installation of new systems. They will also be responsible to ensure that the facilities, layout and machinery used to produce new and existing materials and goods, run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance (TPM), managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment (including software programming) as well as people management and budgetary/cost reporting through effective use of CMMS systems (SAP). Overall Purpose of the Role: Lead the site Maintenance function in providing both a reactive and pro-active, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduling creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out. Increase the site operational effectiveness, improve on project delivery, mean time between failure and downtime reduction, and manage and implement improvement plans, driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes. Role Responsibilities and Accountabilities: The role encompasses various elements related to the upkeep, maintenance and improvement of all manufacturing assets used in the production process, along with people management and general management responsibilities. SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as the role model to build, develop and create a safe working environment through regular support of teammates to adherence of safety culture on site. This includes the use and regulation of Permit to Work (PTW) and Last-Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) methodologies, as well as group safety requirements Strictly apply consequence and recognition policy for active management of all activities to ensure a safe working environment As the GMR 2.1, take the lead in ensuring equipment is designed and operated in a safe manner according to applicable legislations Support the EHS department in ensuring relevant legislative compliance requirements are adhered to (lifting equipment, pressure vessel testing, machinery safety, contractor management etc.) CUSTOMER CENTRICITY RESPONSIBILITIES: Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance through 3-YR masterplan process Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensuring full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and manage critical spares list in line with budgetary requirements and replacement schedules Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems are undertaken Optimise equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Support local management team in the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, to managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties COST LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare the annual Maintenance budget and forecasts for all Spares Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards Develop clear accountability for maintenance material spend combined with a strategy to manage expenditure Manage systems and equipment data storage and maintain high levels of standards and accuracy through routine monthly cycle count of all maintenance inventories Manage the process of disposal of obsolete machinery, plant and equipment from gaining agreement to write-off, to physically removing it, and its safe and lawful disposal Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems with team through effective use of problem-solving tools to ensure breakdowns are properly analysed so as to prevent their recurrence PEOPLE ENGAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Undertake continuous training and development of self as well as team Provide technical expertise to the team through consultation with Group best practices Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the reliability of the plant through technological developments and prevent system redundancy Manage, coach and develop a high performing Maintenance team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy GENERAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSBILITIES: Be an effective communicator, able to clearly communicate technical issues Financial acumen to understand, evaluate and manage budget information and costs Demonstrate leadership to effectively manage the maintenance team structure and hold teammates accountable towards achieving a high standard of workmanship Be systems-driven, able to implement, utilize and develop effective management systems to improve, analyse and maintain the delivery of the operational maintenance strategy
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Engineering Degree in Either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Min 8 years of proven work experience as a Maintenance or Engineering Manager in a continuous manufacturing environment (24-hr operation) GCC completed Adept at Microsoft Office Tools Adept at CMMS systems such as SAP or suitable alternative Relevant industry qualifications to certify experience in CMMS/PM/TPM/PLC etc. Physically fit, able to work in a manufacturing environment exposed to various risks TECHNICAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES: Extensive plant level experience with significant proven management experience Technical capability and understanding especially of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems Extensive knowledge of TPM/EEM/PM systems for Professional Maintenance 1 Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for maintenance Understand spare parts management, purchasing and CAPEX budgeting Understand machine safety regulations such as CE markings Be willing to support maintenance activities after hours, weekends and during holidays, in line with defined callout and afterhours support procedures Be willing to build and develop a network of credible maintenance and technical suppliers to ensure ongoing support to improve overall plant reliability Must be a team player, willing to coach, mentor and develop their team
