- Oversee the care and landscaping of lawns, gardens, walkways, and outdoor spaces, maintaining the venue’s aesthetic appeal.
- Develop and implement a groundskeeping schedule for consistent upkeep.
- Manage a team of groundskeepers, gardeners, or contractors, handling hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Collaborate with event planners and management to tailor the grounds to each event’s needs.
- Maintain outdoor facilities like patios, pools, and lighting, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
- Address grounds-related issues or emergencies promptly.
- Supervise the maintenance, repair, and renovation of buildings, ensuring structural integrity and operational efficiency.
- Schedule regular inspections and upkeep of roofing, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and other building components.
- Coordinate with contractors for specialised projects or repairs.
- Ensure all equipment—HVAC systems, kitchen appliances, maintenance machinery, and IT infrastructure—operates smoothly.
- Implement a preventive maintenance programme to reduce downtime and prolong equipment life.
- Maintain an equipment inventory and manage procurement of parts or replacements.
- Lead a team of maintenance technicians, janitorial staff, and external contractors, providing training on modern techniques and safety protocols.
- Assign tasks, monitor quality, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensure all areas comply with health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Develop emergency procedures for equipment failures or building issues.
- Manage budgets for grounds and facility maintenance, covering repairs, upgrades, plants, equipment, and supplies.
- Optimise resources to balance cost-effectiveness with high standards.
- Oversee waste disposal and recycling processes.
- Proven experience in groundskeeping, building maintenance, or facility management.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping, building systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAChs), and equipment maintenance.
- Previous team management or supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and budget management.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., in horticulture, facilities management, or a trade) is advantageous.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Leadership and communication skills to manage teams and liaise with stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
- Ability to work flexibly, including responding to urgent issues outside regular hours.
