Fitter & Turner (Seamer Mechanic) - Atlantis Full job descriptionExecutes mechanical tasks in accordance with the maintenance programme and in line with legislative requirements and factory standards. Uses analytical and problem-solving skills to run tests on equipment to determine the root cause of equipment failure.Responsibilities:Set up and adjust filling & seaming machines and equipment to give proper closureProgramme recipe changes on equipment according to proceduresConduct tear-down tests and check using a micrometerSpecify, install and commission new equipment for projects according to agreed timelinesMaintain filling & seaming machines and equipment according to the maintenance scheduleOperate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, grinding, or drilling metal stock or componentsMaintain services plant equipment according to the maintenance scheduleMaintain stock of allocated spares to agreed levels and report shortagesTrain and instruct seamer operators to operate machines effectively as requiredRespond to breakdowns according to job cardsKeep production and other stakeholders informed of repair progressManage service providers/ contractors as requiredMaintain housekeeping, safety, and food safety requirements.National Senior Certificate or National Certificate VocationalRed Seal Fitter & Turner3 -5 years of mechanical fault finding on manufacturing equipment and facilities4 years of FMCG experience2 years’ experience as a seamer mechanic in a cannery would be advantageousExcellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skillsDetail & safety focus.Please note: only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.If you do not receive any communication from us within 2 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
