JOB PRUPOSEResponsible for establishing and maintaining project management standards, overseeing the project management team and portfolio of projects, managing resources, and ensuring that all projects are delivered in line with strategic objectives, efficiently, on time and within budget.Driving successful project execution, aligning project outcomes with business goals, and continuously improving processes.RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Planning & Governance:
  • Establish and manage the PMO's frameworks, methodologies, and standards.
  • Align project objectives with business goals and strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with governance standards across all projects.
  • Develop a project portfolio strategy, prioritizing initiatives based on business impact and available resources.
Project Oversight & Execution:
  • Oversee the management and delivery of all projects within the organization.
  • Monitor project performance (budget, schedule, scope, risks) and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Ensure all projects meet deadlines, quality standards, and client or stakeholder expectations.
  • Address bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues that arise during project execution.
Resource Management:
  • Manage project managers and support staff, assigning appropriate resources to ensure projects are adequately staffed.
  • Plan and allocate budgets, workforce, and other resources for project success.
  • Drive team performance by providing leadership, guidance, and support to project managers.
Risk Management:
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle and adjust plans as necessary to minimize impact.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
  • Implement and promote best practices in project management.
  • Continually improve project delivery processes, tools, and templates.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policy, procedures and processes.
  • Keep up to date with effective policy and practice execution strategies and implementation.
  • Lead initiatives to automate and streamline workflows within the PMO.
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
  • Serve as the key point of contact for senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective communication across project teams and stakeholders, providing updates on progress, risks, and outcomes.
Financial & Budget Control:
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure financial accountability.
  • Analyze financial performance and optimize project costs without compromising on quality. Business
General:
  • Contractual management and controlling of the project (whether FIDIC, JBCC, GCC or NEC)
  • Ensuring adequate integration of all key organizational streams required to support the project execution within the PMO. These streams include amongst others the Engineering stream, Workshop and Installations stream, Procurement / Warehouse stream as well as SHEQ stream
  • Undertake Specific Client Training as required to fulfil role.
Required: Qualifications
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • B Degree in Electrical Engineering or Project Management
  • Masters degree or relevant certifications like PMP, PRINCE2 (Advantage).
Proffessional Memberships
  • Project Management accreditation
Experience Required
  • 7-10 years project engineering or management in industrial projects
  • 5 years of plant maintenance or installations work
  • 5 years experience in Design, Electrical & Project Engineering
  • 5 years experience in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale projects.
  • 5 years experience in leadership role within a Project Management Office (PMO) (Advantage).
Required Knowledge:
  • Project management knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package, CAD and MS Projects
  • FIDIC or NEC Contract Management
