- A GCC with a BEng Electrical or Mechanical, with FMCG experience, is essential. Please do not send your CV if you do not have this experience.
- 8 years trade experience, of which least 5 years was in a supervisory category.
- Experience with leading and supervising teams (25 to 30+ headcount).
- FMCG manufacturing experience is essential.
- Manage, with a dedicated focus, the day-to-day maintenance operations in area of responsibility with you teams of Foreman and Artisans.
- The role also includes project planning - Prioritizing, scheduling and allocating tasks to different disciplines of the engineering department, with the assistance of the Planner and Plant Engineer; as well as project cost control – Control approved budgets and subcategories.
- Manage outside contractors to insure the integrity of the engineering team and carry out corrective action if and when required.
- Provide input into CAPEX documentation, taking into account return on investment, resourcing and sustainability requirements.
- Department management – Loss control, asset management, spares utilization, stock holding, and all administrative duties.
- Develop and implement an effective planned preventative maintenance system for the coastal depot facilities as well as oversee major repairs of breakdowns, thus minimising R&M costs in the region.
- Ensure that all buildings and accessories are utilised as per risk, security, safety, health, HACCP AND ISO22000, 14000, and 18000 guidelines.
- Ensure that all electrical equipment and installations are maintained or installed in accordance with statutory requirements and business needs.
- Oversee repairs and maintenance on all other utilities.
- Optimise the efficiency and utilisation of assets in the region, with the objective of minimising the costs per unit.
- Conduct weekly project meetings to ensure that all disciplines are aligned and that Capex target dates are met as per the year planner.
- Preparation of all capitalized major maintenance and capital request motivations and supporting documentation.
- Create and keep an archive on each project for future reference.
- Conduct time and motion studies on specific areas of the plant, with a view to implement flow improvement, ergonomics and engineer bottle necks by the use of layout changes or equipment introduction.
- Management of all planned maintenance, preventative schedules, work requests and break downs, with support from the Planner and Maintenance Foreman.
- Ensure that all are working according to safety regulations and ensure the enforcement of food safety requirements.
- Manage costs to ensure lowest cost production and the optimal utilisation of assets.
- Report to the Engineering Manager on a weekly basis on actual KPI’s versus budget and work with the team to address areas of non-conformance or concerns proactively and timeously.
- Manage suppliers and contracts in collaboration with the procurement team to ensure that agreed service levels are met, and escalate areas of concern to the Processing Engineering Manager where necessary.
- Manage contractors in collaboration with the Project Engineer on a daily basis through the Engineering Foremen, to ensure that the correct standards of work are delivered and that agreed delivery timelines are maintained.
- Ensure that the stores team maintains a supply register and inventory of equipment and spares for use by engineering.
