For over 35 years we’ve helped our customers create beautiful homes they love with an innovative range of quality products they can afford.The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for managing and monitoring a compliance and operational risk management framework, driving risk and compliance culture and as well as third party engagement with Auditors.What you will love doing in this role
  • Meet department objectives by achieving performance metrics (targets) set
  • Focus on identifying and driving all compliance goals, targets & objectives set by the department
  • Meet operational & quality efficiencies
  • Manage the relationships with third parties such as regulators and other legal organisations to prevent the risk of risk non-compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Facilitate and monitor the documentation and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all statutory and supporting processes are implemented and executed within the required timelines – ensure operational compliance.
  • Ensure compliance performance objectives are met.
  • Drive and manage the Enterprise Risk Management annual risk assessment project.
  • Identify, quantify, and manage potential reputational and financial risks.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to influence continuous improvement with compliance requirements.
  • Communicate across all lines of business to provide superior dispute and query resolution outcomes.
  • Ensure that all regulatory queries received are timeously escalated to the relevant department manager.
  • Manage change and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct operational case studies with the aim of improving efficiencies and response times whilst creating awareness of required Compliance standards.
  • Map non-conforming processes and provide solutions according to best practice of compliance standards.
  • Conducting compliance risk assessment training workshops (incl. Risk Champions training and compliance training review & monitoring).
  • Following up on compliance issues that require investigation.
  • Evaluating compliance systems and ensuring adequate software and system rules are in place.
  • Facilitate engagement between internal audit and the business.
  • Monitor and report on implementation of agreed audit actions.
  • Develop and implement an effective compliance risk management program (CRMP, Regulatory Universe etc)
  • Review and help business to create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them.
  • Draft and revise company policies.
  • Proactively conduct investigations and audits on processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses.
  • Evaluate existing and proposed business activities to assess compliance risk.
  • Assist with and monitor the company’s operational compliance with regulations such as NCA, FAIS, POPI, FICA, CPA etc.
  • Fulfil all duties as the company’s FICA Compliance Officer and MLRO.
  • Reporting
  • Design and generate reports to quantify departmental and business risk.
  • Manage and track regulatory complaints received, highlight trends, proposed solutions, response period of query resolved and write offs.
  • Provide accurate reports in line with the company’s requirements and reporting standards.
  • Management of submission of reports to regulators and supervisory bodies.
  • Monitor and report on legislative registrations and license/certificate renewals.
  • Identify adverse variances and/or negative trends and proactively develop action plans to address this.
  • Provide operational feedback to the Management team by identifying trends through data analysis.
What you'll need to do this role
  • BCom/BA in law, finance, business administration or a related field
  • Compliance and Risk Certification
  • Compliance Institute SA / IRMSA Membership
  • Experience as a Key Individual or similar experience (financial service provider) - Advantageous
  • Minimum of 3 years Compliance experience in Retail / Contact Centre for a credit provider/financial services provider environment
  • Experience in Enterprise-wide Risk Management
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of industry practices and professional standards
  • Risk Assessment capabilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Knowledge of vulnerability
  • Problem-solving skills
  • A proven track record in implementing and mapping process
  • Excellent understanding of rights and obligations of credit providers, financial service providers (insurance) and accountable institutions (FICA)
  • Excellent understanding of FICA and AML
  • Good knowledge of POPI Act and data management requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of operational insurance compliance requirements (FAIS, PPRs etc)
