- PURPOSE
- To ensure plant Electrical equipment is maintained as per Procedures documented in the Maintenance Management System (Maximo/SAP) and as per instructions of the Maintenance Manager and Electrical Engineer
- To assist the Electrical Engineer and Technicians in ensuring that all Electrical equipment is well maintained or operated and all issued tasks of planned and unplanned work are completed on time.
- MAIN ACTIVITIES
- The role is responsible to support in managing all maintenance activities associated with defect and planned maintenance through a team of technicians, technical assistants and external contractors;
- Determines and schedules the manpower, tools and spares requirements for each maintenance activity;
- Support the Electrical Engineer in administering the Preventative Maintenance Program for the plant;
- Generates reports (log sheets/check sheets, timesheets, overtime hours) as necessary for the maintenance plan;
- Assign , review and complete work orders generated in Maximo as directed by the Electrical Engineer;
- Ensure that all maintenance of equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals for the equipment;
- Review maintenance procedures and amend where improvement is needed;
- Day to day plant efficient management of maintenance activities, according to good utility practice, company policies and procedures, legal, contractual and other requirements;
- Participate in the facility QA/AC, Root Cause Analysis program;
- Supports reliable and accessible 24-hour call-out functionality;
- Attempts all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high Plant availability;
- Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary along with the Electrical Engineer, technician and assistants and supporting contractor resources to determine failure conditions and rectifies the defects found;
- Records and reports to the Electrical Engineer all rectification jobs undertaken;
- Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with equipment under the guidance of the Electrical Engineer;.
- Discussed and schedule planned and unplanned jobs undertaken with the Electrical Engineer;
- Assist the Electrical Engineer in planning daily jobs;
- Ensures necessary tooling is available at work sites during performance on any job;
- Reports loss of tools or damage to any tools to the Electrical Engineer;
- Uses correct tools for each job and informs the Electrical Engineer of any requirement for tools;
- Ensures necessary tooling is available at work sites during performance on any job and that tools are in good working order;
- Assumes ownership of plant equipment and strives to keep them in the best possible condition;
- Ensure that there is a Permit to work (taken by the technician) for each job;
- Keep and maintain timeous maintenance reports of work conducted as planned or ad hoc as required for maintenance improvements;
- Ensure electrical test instruments and equipment's are maintained, tested and calibrated as required, for all legal and industry practice standards.
- The Job Holder will work in a controlled hazardous environment.
- Work Level 4: the tasks that he/she performs as part of their daily work activities represent a risk of accidents of medium kind that can generate permanent consequences (burns, mutilations, irreversible wounds).
- Traffic/automobile accidents, ergonomic problems and accidents;
- Risks inherent to the job of the Electrical Technician while performing inspections, site visits, operations and maintenance activities, etc.
- The Job Holder is entitled to apply PPE such as hard hat/safety helmet, ear protection (plugs or ear muffs),safety glasses, safety shoes, dust mask, cotton coveralls, safety gloves, respiratory mask. Such PPE will aid in preventing hazards that are inherent to the job.

- Degree/NDiploma in Mechatronics/Electrical/Instrumentation and Control/Computer Systems Engineering;
- Trade Test (Electrical)
- Relevant Management qualification(MDP is and added advantage);
- PR Eng Technician ECSA accreditation(Advantageous);
- Driver's License;
- 2-3 years of experience in the maintenance of a Power Plant, Oil & Gas, Mining and Mineral Processing, Petrochemical or in the Chemical Industry in the capacity as Lead Technician/Master Artisan Electrician;
- 1 -2 years of experience in the maintenance of a Power Plant, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or in the Chemical Industry in the capacity as a Technician/ Artisan;
- Experience in computerized maintenance management system and maintenance and repair of major equipment;
- Operational plant or construction site experience will serve as advantages;
- Permit to work knowledge, Plant hazards and Emergency scenarios will serve as advantages.
- Ability to self-driven and proactive, works well in teams, self-awareness, organizational awareness and effective problem solving;
- Ability to prioritize and do effective decision making;
- Maintains high ethics standards, learning agility and technical or system savvy

- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English;

- Must have excellent organizational skills;
- Demonstrates skills in the use of tools, test equipment and calibration appliances;
- Working knowledge of Environmental Regulations as they pertain to the operations and maintenance of an energy generating facility.
- Must have a high degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Databases, Word processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Maximo, other EPS such as (Oracle or SAP) or equivalent
- English Language: Good command of oral and written English is an advantage.
