
Fleet Controller

- Schedule, dispatch, and monitor fleet movements to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
- Track vehicles using GPS and telematics systems to monitor routes, driver behaviour, fuel consumption, and delivery status.
- Communicate with drivers throughout their shifts to handle delays, route changes, or issues.
- Acts as a central point of communication between drivers, management, and clients
- Ensure drivers adhere to legal and safety standards, including hours of service, road safety rules, and internal policies.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate service, repairs, and licensing to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of fleet performance, incidents, fuel usage, and maintenance.
- Handle breakdowns, accidents, and emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Report on fleet performance, costs, downtime, and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance management of drivers as needed.
- Ensure all transport documentation is complete and compliant with company and legal standards.
- Office-based with frequent communication with drivers on the road.
- Perform any other duties as require by the operations.
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- A relevant qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field (advantageous).
- Minimum 2-4 years' experience in a fleet control, dispatch, or logistics operations role.
- Knowledge of fleet management systems and vehicle tracking technology.
- Sound understanding of transport legislation, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Computer literacy (MS Office, especially Excel and fleet systems).
- Internal: Sales and Operations Managers, Converting Management Team, Safety and Risk Personnel (SHEQ), Admin and Financial Departments, Human Resources, Buying and Training Departments.
- External: Clients
