The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government seeks to employ a competent individual to perform and/or supervise technical design, production, operation and maintenance services. These posts are based at Bellville and Oudtshoorn Mechanical Workshop.
Minimum Requirements Appropriate Trade Test Certificate; A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience as an artisan; A valid code EC driving licence with PrDP.
RecommendationKnowladge of the management and maintenances of a large fleet of vechiles including,Yellow fleet and large construction vechiles. Diesel mechanic trade test will recieve prefrence
Key Performance Areas Supervise according to client specification and within limits of production capability of material and equipment according to job specification and recognized standards; Inspect equipment for technical faults; Repair equipment according to standards; Test repair equipment against specifications; Service equipment according to schedule; Quality assure serviced and maintained equipment; Perform administrative duties which include the completion of logs and time sheets and initiate orders; Handling S & T claims; Compile and submit reports as required; Provide inputs to the operational plan; Supervise and mentor staff; Planning of resources; Scheduling of works; Continuous individual development to keep up with new technologies and procedures; Maintain occupational health and safety standards;.
Competencies Skills in the following: Analysing, legal compliance and computer aid applications; Mathematical abilities; Ability to write reports on the diagnoses of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems; Written and verbal communication skills; Occupational Health and Safety Act.
RemunerationGrade A: R 344 811 per annum (OSD as prescribed.)Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
