  • This role is vital in aligning site-level activities with the companys strategic goals. To provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple mining sites (crushing, screening, washing, loading and hauling), ensuring optimal performance, safety, compliance, and profitability. The Area Manager is responsible for leading and supporting Site Managers and upholding client relationships and ensuring that all sites align with organisational goals, client expectations, and industry standards.
Leadership & Oversight
  • Oversee and support Site Managers across all operational sites within the designated region.
  • Ensure consistency in operational standards and execution across all sites within the designated region.
  • Act as the key communication link between senior management and site operations.
  • Monitor and support Site Managers in meeting KPIs, budgets, and performance targets.
Operational Excellence
  • Conduct regular site visits and audits to assess progress, compliance, and challenges.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions across sites.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and client-specific SLAs.
  • Review and approve critical operational plans, schedules, and procurement needs.
People & Performance Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Site Managers and key supervisory staff.
  • Facilitate training programs, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Evaluate performance through regular appraisals and feedback sessions.
  • Address high-level personnel issues escalated from sites.
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ)
  • Champion a safety-first culture across all sites.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements (MHSA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Drive incident investigations and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
  • Conduct periodic SHEQ audits and compliance reviews.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure high client satisfaction and handle escalations or contract renegotiations.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, industry forums, and community engagements.
Reporting & Administration
  • Review and consolidate site reports submitted by Site Managers.
  • Provide accurate and timely operational reports to senior management.
  • Monitor financial performance and assist in budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 810 years experience in mining operations, including 3+ years in a senior management/oversight role.
  • Proven experience in open-cast mining (crushing, screening, load & haul).
  • Solid understanding of Manganese, Coal, and Iron Ore mining processes.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel extensively between sites.
