- Manage and coordinate all production staff on shift to meet daily operational goals.
- Ensure that all injection moulding machines and ancillary equipment are set correctly and optimised for performance.
- Oversee the adherence to production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of quality products.
- Monitor and achieve production targets, including scrap rates, cycle times, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Review and action all non-conforming product reports in collaboration with the Quality department.
- Stand in for absent Setters as needed and provide support where additional expertise is required.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high-quality standards throughout production.
- Ensure all production processes align with Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
- Confirm compliance with production work instructions, including setting sheets, inspection protocols, packaging, and transport specifications.
- Support the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Ensure a safe working environment and enforce adherence to health and safety standards.
- Promote and monitor good housekeeping practices across the production floor.
- Handle and oversee the use of substances such as lead-based products and alcohol-based chemicals in a safe and compliant manner.
- Provide day-to-day supervision and leadership to production staff, including shift teams.
- Assist in training team members on proper setting and optimisation techniques.
- Motivate staff and guide them towards process improvement and quality-focused work habits.
- Participate in regular meetings with production managers and assistant setters to review performance and plan resources.
- Collaborate with other department managers, warehouse personnel, and operators to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all instructions given by superiors that are reasonable and work-related.
- Adhere to company policies, practices, and procedures as outlined in the Management Policy Document.
- Be available for overtime and after-hours production support as required.
- Level 4 Plastic Federation Injection Moulding Machine Setting Certificate (NQF Level 6)
- South African Citizenship
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in injection moulding machine setting and process optimisation
- Experience supervising shifts in a plastics manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with a wide range of plastic components and moulding conditions
- In-depth knowledge of IMM setting and troubleshooting
- Understanding of production and quality standards in plastics manufacturing
- Familiarity with safety and environmental compliance requirements
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
