IntroductionThe Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire production process of sandwich panels, ensuring efficient manufacturing, high product quality, adherence to safety standards, and cost-effective operations. The role involves coordination with supply chain, maintenance, and logistics teams.Duties & Responsibilities
  • Production Planning & Execution of sandwich panels, doors manufacturing and management of engineering.
  • Plan, organize, and control production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources (manpower, materials, and machinery).
  • Monitor production outputs and adjust schedules as needed to meet targets.
  • Process Optimization - implementation of 5S and other lean tools
  • Quality control
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Analyze production data and KPIs to assess performance and propose improvements.
  • Team Management ( Panel, Doors & Engineering)
  • Lead and supervise production teams.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and company HR policies.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications for sandwich panels (including core material, skin types, adhesive quality, etc.).
  • Resolve any quality issues or customer complaints.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
  • Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Inventory & Materials Management
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure the timely availability of raw materials (steel/aluminum sheets, core materials like PIR, PUR, EPS, rock wool, adhesives).
  • Minimize inventory holding while avoiding production delays.
  • Maintenance Coordination. Hands on maintenance.
  • Liaise with maintenance artisans for preventive and breakdown maintenance of production equipment.
  • Ensure minimal downtime of critical production lines
Education:
  • Technical qualification from a recognised institution in the fields of Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
  • Further tertiary education in terms of production management will be advantageous.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of sandwich panel production processes (lamination, pressing, cutting, profiling).
  • Familiarity with core materials and bonding processes.
  • Proficient in production planning and ERP systems.(Syspro experience would be advantegous).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience:
  • 510 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in sandwich panel or building materials production.
  • At least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
