- Workshop Management: Fully in charge of the workshop when the Production Manager is unavailable. Keep general workshop materials stocked in conjunction with the Fleet Manager. Ensure workshop staff understands job specifications and timeframes and support them in completing assignments and developing skills.
- Quality & Administration: Sign off Job Cards as complete and perform an initial quality check before work is released. Forward job cards via the Novtell system for processing. Verify the accuracy of job cards, receiving reports, and other administrative paperwork.
- Problem-Solving & Improvement: Identify and implement work areas that can be improved in production in conjunction with the Fleet Manager. Help resolve issues quickly to get production moving and meet deadlines.
- Maintenance & Sourcing: Maintain all shop equipment, such as non-electric, electric, and air-powered tools. Order new equipment and materials as needed via the company requisition process.
- Team Leadership: Perform labor alongside subordinates, such as vehicle maintenance or product manufacturing. Perform worker evaluations and provide feedback to HR. Train new employees or manage their training. Match employees with specific tasks based on their skills or expertise, create and post work schedules, and update workers on schedule changes and deadlines.
- Fleet Oversight: Ensure all required vehicle checks are completed and actioned. Check all vehicles in the fleet for overall condition and adherence to health & safety and legislative transport requirements. Maintain vehicles in a condition consistent with the company brand.
- Proven experience relevant to the post, 1-3 years.
- Technical knowledge of diesel mechanics and commercial vehicles.
- Administrative writing skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and numerical ability.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, and IT systems including spreadsheets and word processing.
- Experience in prioritizing workload, time management, and dealing with conflicting priorities.
- Valid driver's license code EC.
- Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
