SUMMARY:
SQL Data Engineer - Cape Town - R650k to R850k per annumPOSITION INFO:A leader in intelligence automation offering specialised software and services aimed at leveraging advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence is looking for a skilled SQL Data to join their data team. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain robust SQL-based solutions to support enterprise-wide data operations. You’ll play a key role in building efficient ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting reporting and analytics needs across the business.Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), T-SQL, and custom scripts.
Build and support data warehouses, data marts, and other data storage solutions.
Ensure high standards of data quality, accuracy, and consistency across systems.
Perform advanced data transformations and query optimizations for performance and scalability.
Collaborate with reporting and BI teams to deliver reliable, high-performance datasets.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues proactively.
Contribute to database design, data modelling, and performance tuning initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in SQL Server database development and T-SQL.
Hands-on experience with SSIS; exposure to SSRS and SSAS is an advantage.
Strong understanding of relational database principles and normalization.
Proven expertise in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is beneficial.
Experience with cloud-based SQL environments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
