Job Summary Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification. • Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a food processing plant or industrial environment; abattoir experience preferred. • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, gearboxes). • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics. Responsibilities • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, chilling units, hydraulic systems, pneumatic tools, saws, and other abattoir-specific machinery. • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. • Collaborate with production, QA, and health & safety teams to ensure machinery operates in compliance with hygiene, safety, and regulatory standards. • Design and modify mechanical components or equipment layouts to improve production efficiency and safety. • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and ensure minimal disruption to operations. • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, technical documentation, and equipment history. • Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment and coordinate with vendors as needed. • Ensure compliance with local and international food principles.
