Salary: Negotiable | Based on skills & experienceAbout the RoleOur client, a leading player in the automotive components manufacturing industry, is seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter and Turner to join their dynamic team in Pinetown, Durban.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and manufacturing components for production machinery to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong mechanical aptitude and a proven track record in a manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities:Perform fitting, turning, and machining of components for production and maintenance purposes.
Conduct repairs, fault-finding, and preventative maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
Manufacture new parts and components using lathes, milling machines, and other precision equipment.
Work with CNC machinery where required (advantageous).
Diagnose mechanical issues and propose effective solutions to minimise production disruptions.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate production and repairs.
Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure optimal machine efficiency.
Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards during maintenance and manufacturing processes.Minimum Requirements:Red Seal Trade Test – Fitter and Turner (essential)
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or automotive components environment
Solid knowledge of precision fitting, machining, and turning processes
Experience with CNC lathes and milling machines (advantageous)
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
Strong mechanical problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation systems is an advantage
Matric / Grade 12 qualification
Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportPersonal Attributes:Highly technical and detail-oriented

Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
