DEPUTY HEADMASTERChristian Brothers' College, Boksburg is an Independent Boys' School and is seeking an outstanding and visionary leader to join our team as the Deputy Headmaster of the College. The successful candidate will hold experience both as a teacher and in management, with an appropriate accredited 3 year university degree and professional teaching qualification, is registered with SACE, is innovative, energetic, and creative, and is prepared to play a full and active role in the life of the schools. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience as a Deputy Headmaster, Principal or Vice Principal in independent education and the IEB curriculum is an added advantage.The ideal candidate will be a dynamic person of integrity and vision with strong interpersonal skills, and have the following:
  • Outstanding interpersonal leadership, communication and managerial skills;
  • Positive interaction with multiple stakeholders including learners, parents, teachers, and alumni;
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice in education;
  • A commitment to championing diversity and transformation;
  • A sound knowledge of current educational trends in South Africa and globally;
  • An understanding of boys schooling principles and practices;
  • An enthusiasm to promote all co-curricular activities and actively contribute to the House System;
  • The ability to understand, identify and contribute to the Catholic ethos and the values of the school;
  • Proficient in Google Suites and relevant school administration platforms.
Additional performance related goals and responsibilities include the following:Report to the Headmaster of the College;
  • Attend and positively contribute to Management meetings as scheduled;
  • Support the Headmaster and staff in the development, review, implementation and monitoring of whole school policies which promote the school’s values, aims and objectives;
  • Assume responsibility for the management of the school in the absence of the Headmaster;
  • Oversee the maintenance and facilities of the College along with leading and directing the ancillary staff;
  • Assume responsibility for campus Occupational Health and Safety annual inspection;
  • Attend PCP meetings as required, and report back to staff when necessary;
  • Oversight of College fund raising activities in terms of execution, involvement and profitability;
  • Oversight of College marketing activities, including open days and other functions;
  • Interview prospective learners and parents and conduct tours of the school where required;
  • Scholarship recruitment, policy, information evenings and examinations;
  • Attend Old Boys' Association meetings as required, and report back to the Headmaster when necessary;
  • Advise Association on planned events per Association and College policy as well as event and fundraising coordination;
  • Whole school hearings post internal, middle management disciplinary processes;
  • Play an active role in the rollout and implementation of the performance appraisal process followed by appropriate staff development and training;
  • Ensure support and training during the induction of new staff and for trainee teachers;
  • Responsible for facilities hiring by outside organisations at the school.
