The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising and managing chemical processes related to mining and mineral extraction. This role involves applying engineering principles to develop and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability in the extraction and processing of minerals.Responsibilities:Process Optimisation:Evaluate and improve existing mining and mineral processing methods through chemical engineering principles.Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction, and increased productivity.Environmental Compliance:Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and develop strategies to minimize the environmental impact of mining and mineral processing activities.Implement and monitor pollution control measures.Materials Handling:Design and implement systems for the safe and efficient handling of minerals and chemical materials.Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to optimize material transportation and storage.Quality Control:Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the consistent production of high-quality minerals.Investigate and resolve issues related to product quality and performance. Safety Management:Promote and enforce safety protocols in all mining and processing activities.Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.Data Analysis and Reporting:Collect and analyse data related to mining and mineral processing operations.Prepare reports on key performance indicators, production metrics, and environmental compliance.Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, BSc, N Dip Analytical Chemistry.Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.PGM KnowledgeKnowledge of dealing with Gold, silver and copper3 years of experience in mining and mineral processing, with a focus on chemical engineering.Strong knowledge of process optimisation, materials handling, and environmental regulations.Familiarity with relevant software and tools for data analysis and process simulation.Valid driver’s licenseGood verbal and written communication skills in English and AfrikaansAttention to detail and methodicalAbility to follow instructions, use own initiative and work well in a teamKnowledge of GLPAn interest in research and development will be beneficialReside in Pomona, Kempton Park or neighbouring areas.Skills:Process engineering and optimization.Environmental and Safety management.Materials handling and transportation.Quality control and assurance.Data analysis and reporting.
