Job DescriptionOur well-established manufacturing client, located in Midrand, seeks to appoint a dynamic Project Manager/Program Manager. In this role, you will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing business process efficiency and driving improvements at a strategic level. Your responsibilities will encompass crafting program strategy, overseeing end-to-end delivery, and providing regular updates to the Executive Committee (EXCO).To qualify for this position, you should have commenced your career in production/operations within the food manufacturing sector before transitioning into Project Management. A comprehensive understanding of food manufacturing and production processes is essential. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of 8 years of experience in executing business improvement projects to be considered for this role.Key duties include:
  • Formulate a comprehensive vision and strategic plan for project management to facilitate scalable growth.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and data to pinpoint areas for enhancing business efficiency and fostering growth.
  • Lead initiatives for new development aimed at expanding the business.
  • Supervise the complete project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and adherence to budgetary and capital expenditure (CAPEX) requirements.
  • Uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency across all projects.
  • Develop dashboards conforming to PMI Standards to centralize and manage projects effectively.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to departmental leaders regarding best practices in Manufacturing project management.
  • Continuously monitor project timelines and activities to ensure adherence and meet turnaround goals.
  • Contribute to the formulation of project budgets, exercising control over allocated resources and providing regular reports to achieve project objectives.
  • Identify and resolve issues or deficiencies in project management processes by proposing effective solutions.
  • Establish clear project success criteria and communicate them to all relevant stakeholders throughout the project's duration.
  • Manage, oversee, and optimize allocated resources, including personnel, procurement, systems, time, and budget, to achieve defined objectives and deliver agreed-upon outcomes within the project lifecycle.
  • Take charge of both internal and external project planning and initiation meetings; facilitate routine project team gatherings involving both Vera and client stakeholders.
  • Foster strong working relationships across teams and functional areas to promote collaboration, innovation, and efficient work delivery.
  • Implement change management practices and procedures effectively, ensuring internal teams understand and accept changes.
  • Lead teams within established processes, defining performance expectations and offering technical guidance as needed.
  • Offer guidance and coaching to departmental leaders on best practices for specific Manufacturing projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with all relevant stakeholders for each project.
  • Educate internal teams on effective project management processes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of stakeholders' needs and cultivate positive relationships with them.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify new opportunities or projects aimed at reducing waste, cutting costs, streamlining processes, or automating operations.
  • Develop a structured process and system for identifying, implementing, and delivering tangible business outcomes for new projects.
  • Establish standardized reporting procedures.
  • Regularly provide reports and analytics to the management team to mitigate project delays and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Generate and distribute weekly and monthly reports to the Executive/EXCO teams.
  • Independently troubleshoot resource and budgetary challenges with internal teams and external suppliers, resolving disputes effectively
Essentials:
  • Degree educated or hold a qualification at NQF 7 level
  • Worked within a food manufacturing environment in either a production or operational role and then moved into project management.
  • 8 years' work experience of working on business improvement projects
  • Have a background in managing multiple projects with the responsibility for reporting back to EXCO
  • Hold a valid driver's licence.
Nice to haves:
  • Lean Manufacturing/ Six sigma experience
  • Hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
