- Strategic & market analysis including market research and competitor mapping; identifying price, selection, sourcing and brand opportunities.
- Ability to translate above insights into operational plans with Division Manager.
- Risk management of performance vs targets: Identify & quantify gaps & opportunities in order to meet & exceed targets.
- Build seasonal plans /strategies based on historic trends & division strategies.
- Overseeing demand planning & stock optimisation including budget management.
- Forward planning of promotional activities & margin management.
- Create divisional performance monitoring reports including KPI templates & dashboards. Support key supplier meetings with data-driven insights.
- Own the reporting architecture and manage data integrity.
- Analytical and critical thinking, using data to inform decisions.

- Proficiency in data analysis is crucial. Retail analysts should be skilled in using tools like Microsoft Excel, SQL, and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) to manipulate and analyse large datasets.
- Knowledge of merchandising strategies, inventory management principles, and supply chain operations is valuable for assessing product performance and optimizing stock levels.
- Retail analysts should be able to interpret financial statements, assess profitability, and evaluate key financial metrics like gross margin, return on investment (ROI), and inventory turnover.
- Proficiency in statistical methods and tools is useful for conducting hypothesis testing, forecasting demand, and conducting regression analyses to identify correlations and patterns.
