This is a full-time position and the successful candidate will report to the Board.Bursar1 November 2025Key Functions and Responsibilities
The Bursar will oversee the full financial and administrative management of the College.Core functions include:
  • Strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Management and financial reporting, including audit preparation
  • Investment management
  • Payroll, purchasing, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Sundry sales, stock and asset management
  • Fund management and inter-company transactions
  • Balance sheet management, bank reconciliation and petty cash control
  • Financial risk management
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Management of debentures
  • Management scholarships and bursary programmes in conjunction with the Headmaster
  • Oversight of the tuckshop and uniform shop
  • Management of transport logistics
  • Management of IT outsourcing
  • Oversight of administrative support systems
Skills and Attributes RequiredThe successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong financial accounting skills and the ability to manage large budgets effectively
  • Commercial and legal awareness
  • Strong information technology competence
  • Sound decision-making ability and proven leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English communications
  • Ability to learn, research and adapt easily
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritise effectively
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of an NQF Level 6 qualification or a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
  • At least 5 years' proven experience in a financial management role
