
Mechanical Engineer (Trailers)

- Reports to engineering manager.
- Product development and design.
- Take on complete projects from start to finish including special projects.
- Stress analysis. Training will be given when necessary. Preferred if they have some knowledge of it.
- Load distributions and general arrangement drawings.
- Assist in implementing drawing standards/processes/documentation etc.
- Assist/manage draughtsman with engineering manager once experienced enough.
- Manage and maintain products/database/standards/administration etc.
- Assist production and repair departments as needed.
- Create nesting for plasma from time to time if draughtsman are not able.
- Assist with day to day.
- Data capturing and filing.
- Bills of materials.
- Proper planning and time management. The successful candidate will be expected to function successfully on their own.
- Maintain good interdepartmental communication and relations.
- Excellent communication, numeracy, and computer literacy skills.
- Good people management skills and management of staff.
- Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimise risk.
- Being able to develop good working relationships and trust with various teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability and be very detail oriented.
- Working well with many different departments and external suppliers.
- Always keeping the end-user/customer in mind.
- Being results and deadline driven.
- Proficient in MS Office and CAD software.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years.
- Qualifications: B.Tech, B.Sc or B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering essential.
- Professional Registrations: Not required.
- Software: Microsoft Office (proficient)(excel, word, outlook), Nesting Software (any but not critical), any 3D design package (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred), FEA software (advantageous).
- Proficient in both English and Afrikaans. (Crucial)
- Notice period: Not more than 1 month.
- Salary: CTC R35 000 to R50 000. Depending on the candidates’ experience.
