A well-established company in the waste and recycling sector is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Controller to safeguard its assets by ensuring all financial and management accounting processes are executed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies. This role oversees the maintenance of all financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments across multiple sites.Duties:
- Compile and analyze monthly reports, including sales, purchases, waste stock, diesel, bailing wire/twine, bags, and cashbook reconciliations.
- Complete salaries reconciliations, journals, accrual schedules, and intercompany loan reconciliations.
- Review income statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and manage outstanding sales orders.
- Ensure VAT compliance (standard and notional).
- Manage accounts payable (invoice capturing, supplier invoice reconciliations, waste cash reconciliations) and accounts receivable (sales orders, invoicing, debtor reconciliations, collections).
- Oversee stock control for diesel, bailing wire/twine, and bags, including reordering and reconciliation.
- Monitor waste stock, perform weekly counts, and investigate variances.
- Handle petty cash, credit card reconciliations, and utilities management (water & electricity usage).
- Review and manage time & attendance, overtime approvals, and payroll submissions.
Relevant finance/accounting qualification
3+ years of experience
Proven experience in financial and management accounting.
Strong knowledge of reconciliations, VAT compliance, and financial controls.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential); ERP experience advantageous.
