Contract: Minimum 12-month renewable contractA luxury, high-end private island resort in the Caribbean is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the full scope of island maintenance operations. This hands-on leadership role ensures all facilities, systems, and equipment are maintained to world-class standards while leading a small team of skilled tradespeople. The successful candidate will thrive in a remote, wellness-focused environment, balancing preventative maintenance with operational problem-solving to ensure seamless guest experiencesMinimum Requirements:
Valid Passport
Relevant trade qualifications (e.g., electrical, plumbing; air conditioning certifications advantageous)
Minimum 5 years experience as a manager in a 5-star hospitality or similar high-end establishment
Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or in a similar leadership role
Hands-on technical expertise with strong administrative and project management skills
Experience managing maintenance systems, schedules, and building handbooks
Ability to read and implement MEP drawings
Demonstrated preventative maintenance planning experience
Valid drivers license (BVI license required by end of probation)
Experience in remote or self-sufficient properties advantageous
Caribbean hospitality experience advantageous
Strong leadership, communication, and guest service skills
Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Fit and health-conscious lifestyle; non-smokers only
Ability to work effectively with multicultural teams
Willingness to relocate for the duration of the contract and adapt to island livingDuties and Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the islands maintenance department
Lead a small team including electricians, carpenters, and other skilled staff
Plan and implement preventative maintenance programs across all areas, including:
Electrical and mechanical systems
Kitchen equipment and back-of-house facilities
Fire safety systems
Gym, spa, and wellness facilities
Interior and exterior property upkeep
Coordinate and supervise external contractors, ensuring compliance with island rules and safety standards
Manage departmental budgets and control costs
Prepare regular maintenance reports and project updates
Develop and manage staff shift and on-call schedules
Ensure preparedness for natural disasters, including hurricanes
Maintain health, safety, and environmental compliance standards
