The Group Billings Manager plays a critical role in supporting the financial health of the organization by analyzing billing data across multiple healthcare units or facilities.The incumbent will contribute to long-term billing strategies that align with overall business growth and financial goals; and collaborate closely with IT, Credit Control, Case Management, and Administration teams to minimise billing errors and optimise revenue collection through comprehensive billing analysis.Key responsibilities include (but not limited to) providing:
Oversight of tariff management in consultation with stakeholders,
Support and drive the digitisation and automation of billing processes/ functions.
Developing standardised job descriptions and training materials for administrative roles and ensuring billing guides are progressively automated.
Analyse Group billing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and revenue opportunities, and report findings to support strategic decision-making.
Monitor Group billing workflows, coordinate feedback from hospitals regarding billing challenges and escalate recurring issues.
Lead, develop, and guide the billings team, including developing standardised job descriptions and training materials.
Collaborate with Credit Control, Case Management, IT, and other stakeholders to improve processes and serve as an escalation point for complex billing disputes or high-impact funder queries across hospitals.
Conduct audits, update policies and SOPs, and implement management directives.
Participate in cross-functional projects to ensure billing processes align with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including medical schemes, funders, and

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (recommended)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle management, data analysis or a related financial role, preferably within a hospital environment (Compulsory)
At least 3 years of experience leading a billings team incorporating all jobs within the Melomed billings environment (Compulsory)
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau) (Compulsory)
In-depth knowledge of medical billing processes, funder rules, healthcare billing codes (ICD, CPT, HCPCS), tariff structures, and relevant medical scheme regulations (Compulsory)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial and billing data to support decision-making
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
