Position Reports to: Manager: AuditDivision: Service & Delivery Nat RevenueLocation: SARS Head Office PretoriaAdvert Closing Date: 05 September 2025About the PositionTax Audits are conducted to determine whether a taxpayer has correctly declared their tax liability in compliance with the provisions of the tax and related secondary legislation. A tax audit includes an examination of accounting records, systems, substantive documents, explanations, or any other relevant information. The audit process consists of planning, execution, and finalisation. The following taxes are audited - Personal Income Tax, Company Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Trust, Pay as you Earn.SARS is looking for an energetic, results oriented, self-driven Ops Manager: Audit to add value and improve the SARS operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of the Tax Verifications/Audit division. The successful candidate will need to take responsibility for the planning of their time and work, executing the work to meet the set targets and goals across all tax types.Job PurposeTo lead and manage an audit team to ensure effectiveness of audit operations across multiple tax types.Education and ExperienceMinimum Qualification & Experience RequiredRelevant Bachelor's degree/ Advanced Diploma (NQF7) in Accounting/ Taxation/ Audit qualification with 5 - 7 years' experience in an Audit environment, of which 1 year at a supervisory level.ALTERNATE:A Senior Certificate (NQF4) with 10 years' related Audit experience, of which 1 year at a supervisory level.Minimum Functional Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in at least 2 Tax types.
  • Applicable to a specific Audit environment e.g. Tax, Customs or Excise business environments.
Job Outputs:
  • Ensure compliance to applicable legislation and all standard operating procedures and policies applicable to business unit.
  • Evaluate, collate and analyse information received from various sources to support internal stakeholders with timely and accurate intelligence
  • Guide and manage to resolve complex cases and make recommendations for further actions, when required.
  • Frequently report on progress of unit and or team against pre-defined objectives and standards, ensuring accurate representation of facts.
  • Ensure procedures, policies and mandates are clearly understood and complied with.
  • Ensure development, alignment and implementation of end-to-end processes within area of accountability for continued process improvement.
  • Implement change and provide guidelines to direct reports defining the impact of change, the change itself and new requirements as a result of the change.
  • Implement resource plans in line with delivery and performance objectives, on budget and in partnership with specialised areas.
  • Link and communicate unit's objectives back to mandate, schedule and prioritise activities and allocate work to meet identified work outputs.
  • Manage a work function or unit by focusing on the delivery achievement of set objectives within specified time frames, costs and standards.
  • Plan and organise multiple work outputs by assigning priorities and continuously reviewing objectives and goals.
  • Provide input into the development of the tactical strategy as well as develop and implement a supporting operational strategy.
  • Apply the necessary discretion and judgement in making decisions and overcoming obstacles to attain set goals and objectives for area of accountability.
  • Apply discretion and judgement to diagnose symptoms, causes and effects and to make decisions to overcome problems and to provide solutions.

  • Implement, manage ad report on cost improvement objectives and communicate or escalate any shortfalls.
