Cape Town - Western CapeENVIRONMENT:JOIN a high-performance team of a dynamic provider of innovative solutions in the Environmental sphere seeking the expertise of a Geospatial Data Scientist. Your core role will entail developing and implementing advanced Geospatial data analyses and algorithms, focusing on environmental applications. You will also use R, Python & JavaScript to create robust data processing and analysis tools while engaging in cloud computing projects. The successful incumbent must possess an Environmental Sciences/IT or related Degree with 2-3 years proven work experience in Geospatial Data Science with a portfolio of relevant projects with proficiency in R, Python, JavaScript and hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms including demonstrated expertise in Machine Learning and its application to satellite data with a strong foundation in GIS.DUTIES:
- Develop and implement advanced Geospatial data analyses and algorithms, focusing on environmental applications.
- Utilise programming languages such as R, Python, and JavaScript to create robust data processing and analysis tools.
- Engage in cloud computing projects, leveraging your experience to optimize the data infrastructure.
- Apply Machine Learning techniques to satellite data, enhancing the understanding and monitoring of environmental phenomena.
- Process and analyse multispectral satellite data to drive innovation in environmental projects.
- Leverage your strong GIS experience to contribute to a variety of projects, providing insights and developing solutions.
- Design and maintain web portals that facilitate access to environmental data and insights.
- Develop and integrate APIs, ensuring seamless communication between various data systems and applications.
- Contribute to the development of multispectral satellite algorithms, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in environmental monitoring.
- A Degree in Environmental Sciences, IT, or a related field.
- 2-3 Years proven work experience in Geospatial Data Science, with a portfolio of relevant projects.
- Proficiency in R, Python, and JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in Machine Learning and its application to satellite data.
- A strong foundation in GIS and experience with satellite data processing.
- Experience in developing web portals and a solid understanding of API development.
- Willing to relocate to Cape Town will be an advantage.
- A keen interest in environmental sciences and a desire to contribute to meaningful projects.
