Our client, a major player in the open-cast mining sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Engineering Superintendent to lead their engineering workshop team. This is a critical role focused on ensuring the highest standards of safety, maintenance execution, and people leadershipRequirements:
  • Qualified Artisan (e.g., Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic)
  • N4 or Equivalent Engineering Tertiary Qualification
  • National Senior Certificate and a Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Supervisor or Foreman role, specifically within the earthmoving equipment industry
  • Proven, relevant experience in an open-cast mining environment
  • Extensive technical knowledge of heavy machinery equipment
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a zero-harm culture by ensuring strict adherence to all mine safety policies and procedures. Lead all incident and accident investigations according to standard protocols
  • Maintenance Management: Oversee the execution of all maintenance work in line with company policy. Drive Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and ensure action plans are completed on time. Provide technical guidance on fault-finding, parts application, and reusability
  • Labour & Team Leadership: Manage workshop discipline, approve overtime, and conduct monthly performance reviews for Foremen. Assist in talent acquisition and develop a training matrix to address skills gaps within the team
