You are subscribed to receive alerts for jobs similar to this one.A significant opportunity is now available for a dedicated and proactive SHE Officer to join a dynamic team supporting a major mining and engineering project in the Northern Cape. This role is integral to ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) compliance across all phases of the project.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist supervisors and line managers in complying with SHE systems.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Maintain inspection schedules and ensure documentation is completed and signed off.
- Capture incidents and corrective actions on systems like ISOMETRIX.
- Follow up on close-out of high-potential hazards and corrective actions.
- Support implementation of Project Safety Improvement Plans (SIPs).
- Conduct SHE inductions and refresher training for employees and contractors.
- Coordinate external training and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Review and monitor SHE compliance of contractors throughout project lifecycle.
- Compile SHE statistics and reports.
- Administer COID processes and liaise with hospitals, doctors, and HR.
- Ensure compliance with occupational illness and injury reporting requirements.
- Minimum of a Higher Certificate in Safety Management (NQF5).
- National Diploma or Degree in Safety or Environmental Management.
- Must have COMSOC 1 & 2 and SAMTRAC.
- Certificates in ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, SAMTRAC, HIRA.
- (Occupational Hygiene Officer): Must be SAIOH-registered.
- Valid Driver's License and own vehicle.
- Strong knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and related legislation.
