- Artisan level qualified (e.g. boilermaker, welder, fitter, mechanical trades), with extensive hands on experience having worked as a construction manager within the steel piping and mining industries combined with strong leadership experience is essential for the role. Mechanical engineering qualifications will be considered a strong advantage.
- A good understanding of safety, qc and welding is essential for the role.
- Extensive experience in pipeline construction projects (steel and plastic).
- Experience managing large construction teams on pipeline/mine-related projects.
- Strong working knowledge of welding, QC, and safety management.
- Medically fit for duty (fitness assessments as per mine/construction site entry requirements).
- Police clearance certificate required.
- Strong technical understanding of pipeline construction, steel, and plastic welding.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to make independent decisions on-site.
- Financial acumen for managing project costs and resources.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to travel extensively and commit to long-term site-based projects.
- Overseeing large-scale pipeline construction projects involving steel and plastic piping.
- Lead site operations, manage teams, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and deliver projects to scope, budget, and timeline.
- Manage large teams on large mining projects at site operations on a national basis.
- Managing site operations across multiple fronts, including steel welding of steel pipelines, butt welding, plastic welding (butt fusion) deforming and lining. Pop and stub process.
- Leading and supervising large site teams, ensuring productivity, quality, and compliance.
- Overseeing safety, qc, and welding standards across all large mining steel pipeline projects.
- Resolving site issues independently, including troubleshooting and fixing equipment (e.g. generators).
- Presenting project reports, budgets, and resource allocation to senior management.
- Collaborating closely with senior management to ensure alignment on project goals and progress.
- Maintaining discipline, professionalism, and positive morale among diverse teams.
- Ensuring projects are delivered within time, quality, and budget constraints.
