So, join us, step towards a brighter future and leave your legacy.ABOUT MAMATWANThe South Africa Manganese operation can be found in the manganese rich Kalahari Basin, in the country's Northern Cape, which is home to 80 per cent of the world's manganese. This position is based at our open-cut Mamatwan mine which started operating more than half a century ago.WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS:Eligible employees will receive an employer contribution towards the company-elected retirement fund.South32 will support assistance for part-time studies aligned to role requirements and business needs at accredited institutions to eligible employees.ABOUT THE ROLE:This role is a permanent full-time position.As a Miner, you will be responsible for mining and and extracting ore according to Mining legislation and regulations.Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
  • Taking charge of the opencast blasting operations within the designated area;
  • Ensure the delivery of quality product to the plant;
  • Achieve the daily production targets;
  • Manage operator time and attendance;
  • Conduct daily lean meetings;
  • Be familiar with the production process activities, trends and brief operators accordingly at the start of each shift;
  • Handle explosives in the mining environment; lock up extra or unused explosives and accessories;
  • Organize and control general road construction activities;
  • Assist Supervisor on the implementation and maintenance of the traffic management plan
ABOUT YOU:You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
  • Must have a minimum of 3 year's experience in a hard rock mining environment;
  • Knowledge of SAP and MS Office is advantageous;
Qualifications for this role are:
  • Grade 12 with mathematics;
  • Open cast blasting certificate for surface mine;
  • Valid drivers license.
