Lead Safety & Compliance in a Key Industrial Role – GMR 2.1 Supervisor & HSE SpecialistWe’re seeking an experienced HSE professional to take on a pivotal dual role, combining statutory accountability as a GMR 2.1 appointee with strategic leadership in health, safety, and environmental performance. This is your opportunity to shape a strong safety culture in a major industrial operation based in Modderfontein, Gauteng.Key ResponsibilitiesGMR 2.1 Compliance & OversightAccept legal appointment in line with General Machinery Regulation 2.1.Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.Oversee statutory inspections, ensuring they are completed by competent personnel and records are maintained.Develop and implement effective precautionary measures for maintenance, cleaning, or adjustment work.Liaise with the Department of Employment and Labour, ensuring full legal compliance.Lead machinery-related incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are executed.HSE Leadership & Continuous ImprovementFacilitate risk assessments and ensure robust mitigation plans are in place.Lead HSE incident reporting, investigation, and sharing of lessons learned.Drive compliance with local legislation and company HSE standards.Lead behavioural change through training, awareness, and engagement initiatives.Support management in fulfilling their HSE responsibilities.Manage HSE-related projects and contribute to sustainability goals.Engage with stakeholders to promote HSE performance.RequirementsCandidate RequirementsNational Diploma, BTech, or BSc in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) – advantageous or required depending on site needs.At least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Proven HSE management and legal compliance experience.In-depth knowledge of the OHS Act, GMR, and relevant SANS standards.Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement skills.Expertise in risk management, incident investigation, and Root Cause Analysis.Strong communication and training facilitation skills.BenefitsSalary & BenefitsR950 000 CTC is offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.How to ApplyIf you’re ready to lead from the front and ensure operational excellence in a high-stakes environment, we’d love to hear from you.
