- Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
- Supervising food prep and cooking
- Checking food plating and temperature
- Establish portion sizes
- Schedule kitchen staff shifts
- Planning and organizing of large functions and executing them successfully
- Weekly stocktake as well as stock management and ordering
- Controlling of waste and practice FIFO principal in order to control all stock and food items
- Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
- Design menus and weekly specials for a high paced upmarket restaurant including buffet, a la carte, call order as well as canape and snack items for upmarket clients and functions
- Computer literate on excel and word as well as CANVA.
- Train kitchen staff on prep work and food plating techniques
- Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g. in refrigerators)
- Proven work experience as a Kitchen Manager or Head Chef
- Maintain safety standards in the kitchen area
- Able to work long hours and every Friday & Saturday
- Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management is a plus
