Manufacturing/Production Plant Engineer/Manager - South AfricaFull job descriptionA leading provider of innovative water and energy security solutions, are now in search for an innovative Manufacturing/Production Plant Engineer/Manager to join our organisation. In this position, the incumbent will oversee and develop production systems in our factory.Engineering knowledge, great attention to detail, and the ability to optimise production processes for maximum efficiency are necessary skills for this role.Main criteria/key responsibilities that we seek:Dedicated manufacturing engineer with 5+ years of experience in planning & designing processes. Seeking to improve product quality and reduce costs leading to savings.Improves manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Assures product and process quality by designing quality testing methods.Analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management.Be an independent thinker and keen problem-solver. Outstanding production engineers are able to diagnose problems, train staff, and provide effective recommendationsQualifications and Experience:Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or BTech Professional Level 5.Membership of an Industry related Professional body would be advantageous.Able to demonstrate experience of working within a manufacturing environment.Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CADIn depth knowledge and experience of, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Lean Manufacturing techniques such as Six SigmaExperience of New Product Introduction, reworking design changes and upgrades through to productionExperience of managing a teamKey attributes:People Management:Lead/support & guide teams under youRelationship Management:Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers, and other service providers.Be an effective team member, working with teams and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output.Key Tasks:Plan, manage and oversee production.Plan and manage plant and facilities.Design and implement cost-reductive changes.Develop and draught an improved production process!Maximise productivity of machinery and workersAssess and analyse current production methods.Determine which equipment will be used and where they will be stationed in the facility.Follow product specifications and quality control measures.Train, supervise, and manage production line workers.Ensure the production line is adequately staffed.Increase speed and efficiency of processes.Ensure all steps of production run efficiently.Develop and implement quality control measures.Educate employees on proper methods to operate machinery.Diagnose breakdowns and troubleshoot problems.Hire technicians to maintain equipment.Work within set budgetary plans for the project.Follow all safety rules and regulations.Communicate with clients and suppliers when necessary.Shows moral courage, openness, and honesty in all dealings.Self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and committedGood communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent Attention to detailSkills Required:Independently determines approach and assigned tasks.Understanding manufacturing processesUnderstanding engineering, scientific and other technical informationStrong problem-solving skills and logical approachUnderstand lean manufacturing.Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.Planning and prioritising activitiesExcellent negotiation skillsAbility to present data effectively.Understanding of Health and Safety practicesTeam working skills.Analytical skillsPC skillsExercises latitude and technical judgement in deciding work methods.Ability to train the work group and lead teams within the work group.Ability to manage group to achieve goals within budget.Good understanding of customer expectations and deliverables with an awareness of the impact of failure/cost of poor qualitySalary Band: +-R60 – R70k – Salary proportioned to experience and qualifications.Benefits: Provident Fund – 100% Company ContributionEE: No preferencePlease note that only shortlised candidates will be contacted.Should you meet the above requirements, please send your CV to kendall@proappoint.co.za
