Job Summary Job Title: Chief Safety OfficerLocation: Limpopo, South AfricaJob Summary:
The Chief Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the safety policies, procedures, and programs within our mining operations located in Limpopo, South Africa. They will lead a team of safety professionals, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations to minimize accidents and occupational hazards at our mining sites.Responsibilities:

Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in line with local legislation, international standards, and company objectives.
Create and maintain a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
Lead incident investigations to determine root causes, propose corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate and empower employees on safe work practices.
Monitor and evaluate safety performance indicators, analyze trends, and prepare reports for management's review.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure safety requirements are integrated into operational practices and projects.
Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and legislative changes related to safety in mining.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and local communities on safety matters.
Develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies.
Assess and manage contractors' safety performance and compliance with safety standards.
Lead a team of safety professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering professional development.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or related field.
Proven work experience as a Chief Safety Officer or a similar leadership role within the mining industry.
In-depth knowledge of mining safety regulations, best practices, and risk management.
Strong understanding of South African mining legislation (e.g., Mines Health and Safety Act).
Professional certification or membership in relevant safety associations or societies (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, OHSAS, etc.) preferred.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate individuals at all levels of the organization.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities to identify and mitigate safety risks.
Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
Proven ability to lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite and safety management software.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various mining sites within Limpopo when required.

Benefits:

Salary: R600k - R800k
