A market-leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their company in Hammarsdale, KZN. This is a rare opportunity to join a top-tier brand known for its continuous capital investment, innovation, and strong focus on engineering excellence. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, strong leadership, and a track record of managing plant maintenance and engineering teams in high-output FMCG or processing environments.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead day-to-day plant maintenance, including preventative and breakdown repairsDrive uptime, efficiency, and long-term asset health through best-practice maintenance strategiesSupervise foremen, artisans, and contractors; ensure safe and compliant execution of workOversee capital projects and major plant upgrades, from planning to implementationCollaborate with planners and plant engineers to meet timelines and budget objectivesEnsure all new installations comply with safety, health, and quality standardsLead and develop a high-performing engineering teamManage succession planning, mentoring, and training initiatives across disciplinesFoster a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountabilityEnsure compliance with statutory regulations, safety standards, and audit requirementsEnforce SHEQ standards across all engineering activitiesConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent incidentsManage engineering budgets, report variances, and implement cost-saving initiativesControl asset registers, stock levels, and procurement processesMonitor service levels of external suppliers and contractorsMinimum RequirementsDegree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringGCC Factories essential8+ years' relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory/management roleStrong experience in project execution, plant maintenance, and engineering systemsDeep understanding of mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical operationsProven leadership skills with a strong focus on people management and complianceMust be hands-on, detail-oriented, and solutions drivenReady to take the lead at one of SA's top manufacturing facilities?RPO Recruitment can help you secure your next opportunity.
