
Mechanical Technician

- National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical Fitter/Turner or related mechanical discipline)
- 8-10 years' post apprenticeship or millwright experience in a similar environment.
- First principles relating to the operation and maintenance of appropriate plant and equipment.
- Relevant industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures covering a range of plant and equipment.
- The relevant engineering theories and principles relative to electro-mechanical machinery such as compressors, valves, fans, pumps, gearboxes, drives, couplings and belt drives, conveyors, and dampers.
- Sound knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
- Excellent fault finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Computer literate (MS Office).
- Leadership and people management capabilities are essential
- Inspect and maintain plant and equipment to meet operational requirements.
- Routine maintenance and shift work to conclude preventative maintenance activeties,
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults and breakdowns efficiently to minimize downtime
- Repair and maintain machinery.
- Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance on plant machinery (continues updating and improvement)
- Keep records of machinery service history (CMMS maintenance system management)
- Run diagnostic tests, make adjustments to ensure machine operate at optimal performance using diagnostic software and complex solving skills.
- Comply with industry health, safety and environmental working practices and regulations.
- Read, understand and interpret information and work in a compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation.
- Prepare work areas to undertake work related activities and reinstate those areas after completion of the work-related activities.
- Communicate, handover and confirm that the appropriate maintenance process has been completed to specification.
